Positive thinking! What is positive thinking? Is it telling people not which mistakes to make? Or is it telling them which mistakes they have done? Is it positive to talk about mistakes at all? Or isn't it better not to mention mistakes, but only refer to the good and correct that has been uttered by others or done? Of course, some of you will now pose the question, maybe, what is 'good' and what is 'correct' supposed to be? Are these relative notions or absolute ones? (1)What i...

One more impression on Cyprus of a foreigner - one more advice! I as a German (I prefer to talk of myself as a European) would like to say at first: Germans have a problem with foreigners in their country and the same could be said about foreigners on Germans. Hitler tried to re-create something like the pure-German-race. Every historian, though, will tell you that such was an illusion, because the place where Germany is situated in the middle of Europe and has been the place where tri...

Let’ s Deadlock! Yesterday, Wednesday, I had this Poem in my back, which I will present to you below, and I thought that it is not suitable to confront you with nothing more than such as a contribution or article. Le Pen – ‘Prophet’ of a coming temporarily division! Mr. Le Pen will visit the island of the Cypriots on the 01. of November. In his suitcase he will have, I believe: hate against everything that is related to Turkey and Turks. There will be some welcoming him and some, like some organizations of the civil society (KISA etc), that will show him, I hope, not their hate, but best disobedience and their disgust on certain ideological ideas he is going to present and which he uttered latel...

... Ataturkism ..., but ... We all know, Ataturk is somehow a national symbol for the majority of Turks in Turkey and is therefore more or less what Stalin is or seems to be for Georgians in Georgia. The people mainly approve of Ataturks achievements, maybe not quite comparable in intense with the approval of the Georgians for Stalin, but at least a little bit comparable with them and maybe even more than a little bit. Ataturkism can be called an ideology, a way to look at the world, a per...

Yesterday evening (16.12.03) on TRT3 again there was word about the so called south- east problem in Turkey, which, concerning Baykal, the leader of the opposite party, was addressed in a wrong fashion by the prime minister, Tayyip Erdogan, when he was visiting the European Summit. What was said by Tayyip Erdogan was that there are still things to be done to make life better for the people living in the region. But having said so he relativated right after by saying that as well in ohter parts...
